Event Description

The Old Mutual Two Oceans Trail Runs take runners to the forests above UCT and both offer inspiring vistas over the peninsula on Good Friday morning – the 19th of April 2019.

Both the Short and the Long runs start at the UCT grounds and take runners along the lower slopes of Devil’s Peak and nearby forests. Open to beginners and experienced trail runners, these challenging routes boast varied terrain with steep ascents and technical descents.

Note:

Please note that the minimum age for the 12km and 24km is 18 years of age (age on Race Day). Both routes are incredibly popular and entries sell out within minutes.

Important Notes

  • Entries sell out within minutes – please do not delay your entry.
  • Your entry includes a commemorative Trail Run adidas running T-shirt. Please refer to the size charts before selecting your T-shirt size, as exchanges cannot be facilitated.
  • A limited number of Development Runner entries are available via Western Province Athletics. Process TBC.
  • Substitution Entry Window: 10am on 9 January 2019 and close at 5pm on 18 March 2019
  • All profile updates need to be made by 5pm on 18 March 2019
  • If you do not have a RaceTec timing chip, you will be required to buy one (R130).

Compulsory Equipment for the Trail Runs

Note: Athletes will be required to unpack their kit at the start to display their compulsory kit as listed below.

  1. Water – Carry at least 1 Litre (we recommend a hydration pack)
  2. Food – Energy Bar/ Sandwich/ Banana
  3. A cellphone charged with organiser’s number in Ziplock bag. (021 937 0324 – emergencies only)
  4. Windbreaker and disposable poncho OR waterproof jacket with sealed seams 
  5. Race Number, pinned to your shirt
  6. Your RaceTec timing chip, laced onto one of your shoes. The chip must be registered in your name and not belong to someone else. Runners who do not own a chip (or have lost theirs) must purchase a new chip when they enter, and runners who lose their timing chips after entering or have left them at home will be able to buy a new timing chip at Registration.
  7. Sunblock and a hat are recommended
