Mom pushing triple stroller breaks World Record

Mother of four, Suzy Goodwin (35 years old from North Carolina), might have broken the Guiness World Record for completing a half marathon (21.1 km) while pushing a triple jogging stroller. She completed in the North Carolina Halloween Half Marathon in Fayetteville on Sunday and here official time according to race results was 2 hours, 1 minute and 19 seconds. The official record has not yet been declared because Goodwin has just submitted application for the record but it seems a mere formality. Since it will be the first submission in the new category: completing a half-marathon with a triple stroller.

Goodwin has been a active runner for 15 years and has competes in 50 marathon in 42 states across the USA. She found that the triplets (14 months old) really enjoyed tagging along on her runs and in fact earlier this year (May) she placed first female in a local 5K while running with the stroller. This inspired her to go for the world record in the half marathon distance.

“A triple stroller record is just obscure enough,” said Goodwin, whose husband is an Army captain stationed at Ft. Bragg. “There are people I’m sure who will come along and break it, but in the spirit of camaraderie, I hope they do.”

Her finishing time is really good considering she stopped at least once to change diapers. Additionally she had to multitask her running by feeding the kids crackers and entertaining them when they got restless.

“It was the most proud I’ve ever been to run,” Goodwin said. “It’s always great to pass the men and hear them mutter under their breath, ‘The mom with three babies just passed me.'”
